ControlXRM is a leader in the Brazilian airport segment in retail and hospitality management. We are present in 36 airports and are expanding to Latin America, with our solution already available in three languages: Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

In this article, let’s explore how opportunities arose in the airport scenario and the upcoming developments! But before that, let’s step back a bit in time to provide context on significant transformations in recent years.

Inframérica: how it all began

In 2012, the Federal Government was overseeing airport concessions in the country. It was during this time that the Inframérica concessionaire (the world’s largest private airport operator) acquired Brasília Airport and Natal International Airport.

Since then, the operator has been expanding and modernizing terminals, reshaping the concept of airports in Brazil. As an example of progress, Brasília International Airport became the country’s second-largest passenger traffic terminal, receiving around 40,000 users every day.

And how did ControlXRM enter this market?

Already established in the shopping center sector, ControlXRM envisioned and explored an entirely new avenue in terms of new business and opportunities, which was the airport segment.

“While similar, these markets have particular characteristics, commercial details, operational intricacies, and contractual specifics that differ, especially regarding greater government control,” emphasizes Danilo Rodrigues da Silva, partner and director of new business at ControlXRM.

“We embraced the challenge and immersed ourselves in the sector to understand what an airport needed differently from other commercial ventures,” adds the executive.

Thus, in 2017, after a thorough analysis, ControlXRM identified the pressing need for cutting-edge technology and an integrated management system capable of capturing leads and automatically monitoring them through the sales funnel, auditing sales at various retail points, and providing an efficient service portal to lessees. In this way, we developed a tailor-made platform for the airport sector.

As a result, our solutions allowed Inframérica to have greater control over its processes, contributing to the improvement of operational efficiency and increased profitability.

This achievement reflects our commitment to excellence and our ability to provide high-quality solutions that add value to our clients’ businesses.

CCR Airports

The success of the partnership with Inframérica led other companies in the airport sector to become interested in ControlXRM’s technology, such as CCR Airports.

This new partnership began with the implementation of our system at Belo Horizonte International Airport in Confins, which has the capacity for 32 million passengers per year.

The implementation of ControlXRM’s solution at the airport enabled:

  • Centralization and management of administrative and commercial information flow.
  • Improvement of internal processes, facilitating communication between various departments, lessees, and retailers.
  • Making decision-making more agile through automatic data collection at sales points, such as stores and Duty-Free shops, both managerial and fiscal.
  • Maximum precision in Revenue Share calculation.
  • Catering control.
  • Solutions for cargo.
  • Solutions for advertising.
  • Analysis of PAX indicators using filters, crossing data such as R$/m², segment, floor, and type of operation, also used as a calculation variable in various types of calculations.
  • Control of fuel consumption and distribution.

Inframérica and CCR remain some of the most relevant clients of ControlXRM in the airport segment, thanks to the constant improvements implemented in our system to meet their needs, which have been refined over the years for greater efficiency and operational excellence.

Expansion to Spanish-speaking countries

In recent years, we have invested significantly in expanding to Spanish-speaking countries. We have fully implemented our platform in two new languages (English and Spanish), trained our team to provide support in multiple languages, and adjusted our support hours to ensure that our clients always have access to high-quality support.

We are working on the continuous evolution of the platform to ensure that business processes are more compliant with foreign contracts.
